This is a beautiful piece! You should try to take another picture of it... this one is quite blurry... But still fantastic. They can be a drudge sometimes when working on them... but they're always worth it in the end! Very nice.

We have this one hanging in our living room. My mum made it a while back, so I realize what an effort it must have been. Great job.

Its a gorgeous pattern - the most complicated I've ever done, but well worth the effort.

Thanks for commenting :)

Thanks! I was on bedrest for six weeks of it - nothing to do but stitch and sleep. I remember hating it at the time, but now it sounds like bliss :)

I'm sure the big pattern companies bank on unfinished projects - the bigger it is, the more likely we are to get fed up with it and buy another one :D

This is really awesome! I started on a similar big dragon cross-stitch two years ago, but I got torn away from it by other projects. Do you ever find yourself with a lot of half-finished cross-stitch projects? I know I do. ^_^

:lmao: From where I am sitting I can see three boxes of unfinished projects. There's a candlewick cushion I started while on holiday three years ago and needs maybe four or five hours work to finish. There's the quilted advent calendar that was supposed to be finished about 23 days ago :). A big cross stitch kit on black aida with only six shades of brown floss that I gave up on about four years ago. A rainbow lorikeet cross stitch that I stopped when I had to rehome my own lorie and was too heart-broken to finish. An applique art quilt that needs machine quilting...

And that's just off the top of my head. I have a short attention span :D

da Vinci used to start heaps of stuff that he never finished. I like to think of it as a mark of true genius ...

Anyway, thanks for your comment and watch.

That's a lot of unfinished projects. :) Generally I have WAY more unfinished sketches and paintings, and currently I have four ongoing cross-stitch projects. One is of a dragon guarding a castle (that seems to be really popular), one is of a mermaid, one is of a tea set for my mom, and then there's a Winnie the Pooh one that's meant to be a Christmas gift that I'm 99% done with.

I'm sorry about your lorikeet; I'm assuming it's a type of bird. Anyway, I've never heard of them before. What do they look like?

Rainbows look like this [link] They're Australian originally but we have wild flocks of them here in New Zealand.

Gorgeous birds. Noisy tho, real noisy. My boy went to a great home - a park with a big free flight aviary so he really was better off.

OMG they're GORGEOUS! And I'm not really a big fan of birds. The bigger ones I'm kind of scared of... But that's really great that he gets to fly around in a big aviary with other birds now. Still, I imagine you must miss him a great deal.

Thank you for the fav on Water Dragon too by the way..........I'm pretty happy with it too :D

Yeah, it was tricky. Most of the wings are done with two strands of different colours. There's lots of half and quarter stitches. A good lamp and lots of patience are both essential.

The final product was well worth it though.

I agree completely! Oh yes, and :iconranuit: has a website where she is slowly but surely putting together more fantasy art work, some wiccan, or what I like to call "off the beaten path" type cross stitch kits and graphs. She has a few things, but will soon be getting the larger more complicated packages together. So for something completely different............keep checking her site for updates :D
